One Year

4 07 2008

This evening Mom, Tyler, and I went mulberry picking down at the creek near our house. After obtaining a sufficient amount for the making of a mulberry cobbler (soon to be in my near future!), we strolled farther down the creek to a very familiar spot that I haven’t been to for about a year. Only the last time I went there, I was lugging a bunch of camera equipment.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since we were in the middle of production for The Journal. Looking back, it was an extremely amateurish film, quite poorly done, but I learned in the process of making it, and made many memories, some fonder than others (there happened to be a ton of poison ivy back in those woods….).

So, having my camera along with me, I shot a few pics of the spots where the action happened. Here they are, along with the corresponding shots from the movie.

The third shot of the first battle scene.

Here’s what it looks like now, slightly different angle and overgrown, but still the same.

Having a conversation during the opening battle.

The same spot, sans Tyler, Jonathan, and me.

If you have, why not leave a comment below and tell us what you thought of it, whether it be constructive criticism or telling us how it helped make an impact on your life. We, the makers, value your feedback as we consider future films!

DVDs Are Available!

11 11 2007

That’s right, you can now own The Journal on DVD. Though orders can’t be filled right away at this moment, as soon as I get the next batch of DVDs in, we’ll send it to you! The cost is $10.00 (including shipping!), and it includes The Journal, Outtakes, Behind the Scenes, Official Trailer, Gospel Presentation, and two extra features: War of 1812, a silent short comedy, and Declassified Report, Stembridge Mill’s entry into the 2007 SAICFF Trailer Competition, which was also chosen as a semi-finalist in the competition.

Lord willing I will also be able to make the film available through Glarity Media Store for those of you who want the film only, as well as on a 2007 SAICFF anthology DVD collection being put together by the Dallas Christian Filmmakers, and possibly even a low resolution version on GodTube.

Soli Deo Gloria!

SAICFF 2007

30 10 2007

Well, even though The Journal didn’t get any farther than semi-finalist in the 2007 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, my family and I had a great time at the festival viewing the other films and listening to the speaking.

Now that all that’s done, I’m getting ready to release The Journal to the general public on November 1st. All those who have pre-orded a copy can expect to get theirs in early November.

Soli Deo Gloria!
